Pennye & Pup at The Woof

Healing Through Food First

When your companion needs more than basic care, we help you become their best health advocate—with confidence, clarity, and support.

The Story Behind Woof Nutrition

It started with Artemis, a beloved wolf-dog hybrid whose diabetes diagnosis changed everything. When we discovered that conventional dog food was actually worsening her condition—the corn-based ingredients turning to sugar and feeding the diabetes—my business partner Julie and I knew we had to find a better way.

That search led us to the transformative power of nutrition, and ultimately to founding The Big Bad Woof in 2005. Nearly two decades later, I've helped hundreds of pet guardians navigate complex health challenges through personalized nutrition approaches that address root causes, not just symptoms.

Every pet I work with carries forward Artemis's legacy—the understanding that when we look beyond conventional approaches and address root causes, healing and transformation are possible.

Sandy C, Rockville MD

"Pennye spent a generous amount of time with me listening to my concerns about my dog and making recommendations about food and supplements when I couldn't get this information from my own vet. They really care about the animals and want to make the humans happy in the process!"

Mari R, Washington DC

"My pup is not only stable—he is vibrant, engaged, and still enjoys his days, even as he lives with a serious diagnosis. She helped us feel empowered instead of helpless, and for that we are deeply grateful. Her holistic approach, grounded advice, and genuine care have been a gift."

Cancer Support Case

Pittie Parent, Washington DC

"Unfortunately he suffers form seasonal allergies. Sneezing, anxiety, whining, hot spots, scratching which can lead to a secondary infection. After reaching out to Pennye at The Woof, she recommended Alge-Ex. By day 2 of being on this supplement I noticed a difference. He was less anxious and less itchy. I've tried many treatments and I will continue to use this product."
